Terry’s new, 2020 plate, 200 series came to the shop straight from the dealer, looking to start stage 1 of his new build.
He was after the power to charge his caravan and run his fridges. We got things started with a Redarc BCDC1225D, both for its 25amp charging abilities and also its solar input for when he’s parked up. This was then connected to a Bosch BAC12-100R AGM Deep Cycle Battery for storage.
In case of emergencies, jump starting options were needed. This is where the Redarc SBI12 Smart Solenoid comes into its own. Allowing the user, at the push of a button inside the cabin, to jump start the vehicle off the secondary battery. Trying to keep everything as factory-looking as possible, the BCDC1225D & SBI12 combo was mounted in front of the radiator for both looks and increased cooling.
All this power was run through a 100amp fuse towards the rear of the vehicle to a QVEE fuse box and triple socket mount. Running 2 Engels side by side required twin merit sockets fitted, along with an accessory socket for day to day charging.
The Redarc TowPro Elite is the trailer brake controller everyone uses for a reason. It is, by far, the best unit on the market today. Project 200 is no exception, with the TowPro fitted to the drives side switch panels, adjustment is at your fingertips.
Power to the caravan was dealt with by the KT Cables aluminium 12-pin flat trailer plug, as the customer didn’t want risk of stones damaging the plug off-road.
Since Terry was planning on heading across the country soon, a secondary fuel filter was also fitted for piece of mind. Drivetech 4x4 supplied their 30 micron pre-filter, which was fitted directly next to the factory fitted diesel filter.
